Pak army has helped build the first ever AstroTurf cricket stadium of Pakistan in Chaman, Balochistan. The stadium was inaugurated today by Lt. General Asim Saleem Bajwa.
Before handing it over the cricket association, the Lt. General played a shot. Later on, a friendly match was organized between Qilla Abdullah 11 and Chanam 11.
The stadium is not only the first to open in Balochistan but is also the first AstroTurf stadium of the country. The cricket association has told that professional cricket matches will be held at the stadium.
The stadium has as many as three stands for spectators. This isn’t too much space but it is enough to get started with. The stands can be erected whenever needed.
For those of you who are wondering what AstroTurf is, it is a brand of artificial turf playing surface. In simple words, it is artificial grass. The AstroTurf is used on game fields to avoid the cost of laying and maintaining real grass.
The hours of usage are also maximized when AstroTurf is used as compared to real grass.
